Panaji, Oct 11 (PTI) Days after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar asked legislators in Goa not to make statements against police with regard to narcotics-related cases, main opposition Congress today promised all help to the government.

Parrikar last month had asked legislators to refrain from making statements against police officers in the drug-related cases, and instead give police any useful information they have.

“The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has decided to provide full support to the state government to curb this menace. We all need to be united in this matter,” Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar said.

He was speaking after chairing a CLP meeting.

“If Congress MLAs come to know about any drug-related activity, they will immediately inform Parrikar,” he said.

The CLP, however, was unhappy over the BJP-led government’s failure to crack down effectively on the drug mafia operating in Goa, he said.
