Chandigarh, May 19 (PTI) Hot weather conditions prevailed

in several parts of Haryana and Punjab with maximum

temperatures staying a few notches above the normal in both

the states.

Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place with 44 degrees

Celsius, two degrees above the normal, while Narnaul recorded

a high of 43 degrees Celsius, a MeT department report said.

Ambala and Karnal recorded 40.4 degrees Celsius and 40

degrees Celsius respectively.

Union Territory Chandigarh recorded 39.7 degrees Celsius,

two degrees above normal, the report said.

In Punjab, Amritsar’s maximum temperature was 40.3

degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 40.5

degrees Celsius and 41.1 degrees Celsius respectively, two

notches above the normal.

The MeT department has predicted light rain or

thundershowers at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab in the

next 36 hours.
