Coimbatore, May 19 (PTI) A Indian made foreign liquor outlet, closed after a Supreme Court order, was ransacked by a group of persons here today after they noticed that liquor was selling there clandestinely, police said.

The apex court had on March 31 said that liquor vends within 500 metres of national and state highways will have to shut down from April 1.

People noticed that the shop, located in the busy bus stand area, was selling liquor clandestinely during the last few days.

About 50 persons including women, suspected to be CPI(M) workers, broke open the shutters of the outlet and destroyed liquor bottles stocked there, police said, adding nobody was arrested in this connection.
