New Delhi, Apr 5 (PTI) Jeera prices went up by 0.51 per cent to Rs 14,690 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on pick up in demand.
Besides, tight stock positions on restricted arrivals from the growing regions fuelled the trend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April rose by Rs 75, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 14,690 per quintal with an open interest of 5901 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 50, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 15,110 per quintal in 2736 lots.
Traders said fresh positions built up by participants due to upsurge in demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing belts, mainly attributed the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
