New Delhi, Mar 14 (PTI) Maize prices strengthened by Rs 9 to Rs 1,149 per quintal in futures trade today as investors created fresh positions in line with strong physical demand.
Market players said tight stocks position and rising demand from poultry feed makers encouraged speculators to build up holdings, which led to the rise in maize futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, maize for delivery in May contracts rose Rs 9, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 1,149 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,710 lots.
Similarly, the delivery of the April contracts moved up by Rs 7, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 1,155 per quintal, with an open interest of 110 lots.PTI SDG ANS ANS
