Raipur, Apr 7 (PTI) Naxals set on fire today four vehicles and machines engaged in road construction work in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, a police official said.
The incident took place near Koyabekur village under Fulbagdi police station limits, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI over phone.
A road is being constructed under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at Koyabekur, around 500km from the state capital Raipur, he said.
As per preliminary information, a group of 7-8 ultras, dressed as civilians, stormed the road construction site and asked the labourers there to stop work, Meena said.
Before leaving the spot, the ultras set ablaze four vehicles and machines, including one paver machine and a tipper truck, the police officer said.
Maoists frequently try to disrupt road construction works in Bastar division, which comprises seven districts.
They often attack security forces deployed at construction sites and also damage vehicles and machines engaged in building roads and other infrastructure facilities.
