Lucknow, Mar 13 (PTI) Lambasting the Uttar Pradesh government for its “anti-poor” and “anti-people” budget, Leader of the Opposition in UP Assembly Ram Gobind Chaudhary today said there was “difference in words and deeds” of the state government.

Speaking in the Assembly today during a discussion on the UP Budget, Chaudhary said, “The government has cut funds, and there is a difference in words and deeds.” The developmental work done by the previous Samajwadi Party government under Akhilesh Yadav had been stopped by the current government in the name of probes, Chaudhary claimed.

“Akhilesh Yadav government had started schools, hospitals, medical colleges, metro rail and expressway. Some of these projects were inaugurated, while some were not. The BJP government had put its name plates on the projects which were not inaugurated.” He alleged that the state government had, in an act of vengeance, cancelled the recruitment made during the SP regime.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his four-year in office, has visited almost 90 per cent of the countries across the globe, but no country has evinced interest to invest in India. Like the Centre, the policies of the state government are also anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-poor. In fact, the policies help protect the interests of big industrialists and businessmen,” Chaudhary said.

Participating in the discussion, leader of BSP in UP Assembly Lalji Verma said the BJP government had made a number of promises, but it did not fulfil them.

“No businessman will set up an industry in a state where the law and order situation is not good,” he said.

Leader of Congress legislative party in UP Assembly Ajay Pratap Singh ‘Lallu’ said the state government had duped the farmers and the youth of the state in the name of loan redemption and employment.

Earlier during the Question Hour, the Assembly witnessed heated exchanges with Congress members raising the issue of non-distribution of sweaters to children of government primary schools and the recent hooch deaths of Ghaziabad.
