Trump says he does not want to fire Robert Mueller

Washington, Oct 17 (PTI) US President Donald Trump has said that he does not want to fire former FBI director Robert Mueller who is investigating into allegations of Russian connections by Trump campaign, but urged for a speedy end to the probe.

“No, not at all,” Trump told reporters at a White House news conference, when asked if he was considering firing Robert Mueller.

“Well, I’d like to see it end,” Trump said in response to another question on investigations being carried out by Mueller, who has been appointed by the Department of Justice to look into allegations of Russian interference in last year’s presidential elections and any links it had with Trump’s campaign.

Last week, Mueller questioned Trump’s former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Trump said, “the whole Russia thing was an excuse for the Democrats losing the election, and it turns out to be just one excuse”.

Trump defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential elections.

“I mean, today Hillary blamed Nigel Farage. That one came out of nowhere. So that was just an excuse for the Democrats losing an election that, frankly, they have a big advantage in the Electoral College. They should always be able to win in the Electoral College, but they were unable to do it,” he said.

“So there has been absolutely no collusion. It’s been stated that they have no collusion. They ought to get to the end of it because I think the American public is sick of it,” Trump said in response to a question.
