Kolkata, July 10 (PTI) Film actor Vikram Chatterjee, arrested on charges of culpable homicide for his alleged role in a car crash in which model and TV anchor Sonika Chauhan was killed, was remanded to 14-day judicial custody today.

Chatterjee, who was arrested on July 7, was remanded to judicial custody by a city court after three days in police custody.

The police said that Chatterjee has been “uncooperative” and was giving convoluted answers to their queries.

The actor went absconding after the police charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case.

He was eventually arrested on July 7 when a team of Kolkata police intercepted a cab outside a mall on Rashbehari Avenue connector in south Kolkata.

Chatterjee had earlier been charged with causing death due to rash and negligent driving.

The actor was driving Sonika home in Watgunge area after a party on April 29 when the accident took place.
