Telugu film, Arjun Reddy, featuring Vijay Devarakonda left audiences all over the world impressed with its raw performances and story line. The narrative of the movie is that of a medical surgeon Arjun Reddy (Vijay Deverakonda), who falls truly, madly, deeply in love with his college junior Preethi (Shalini). However, Arjun becomes an alcoholic post his break-up and the remaining story is about how is journey on redeeming himself. This coming of age romantic drama not only received rave reviews but also received a cult status within no time. It was instantly known that the film would be remade in different regional languages. Tamil patrons were excited when news of the film being made in the language started doing the rounds. Their excitement knew no limits when it was reported that famous filmmaker Bala would be directing the Tamil remake of the film with superstar Vikram‘s son Dhruv in the lead role.

Everyone had been awaiting the title of the film all this while. Many had been speculating that the film would be titled ‘Chiyaan’ as Vikram is fondly called as ‘Chiyaan’ by his ardent fans. Today, after what seemed like forever, the makers have announced the title of the film. It’s titled Varma. Not only for the fact that it is the Tamil remake of a cult movie, but also for the fact that it will have Vikram’s son, Dhruv debut in the film industry with this film, Varma will be a highly anticipated film. Whether or not, Dhruv will be able to live up to the expectations of the fans, remains to be seen, but that sure has got fans excited. Meanwhile, Bala has directed Vikram in the hit film ‘Sethu’ in the past, which changed the actor’s career altogether. Thus, fans are expecting the same thing to happen with Dhruv as well. The film is bankrolled by E4 Entertainment. While it is too early to predict how the film will be, Vikram is doing everything in his power to ensure that his son gets the perfect launch in a film that is much talked about. In the meantime, Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh are joining hands to make a Hindi remake of the cult Telugu film. The story will see in a boy next door avatar, which will be quite different from the look he is sporting in his upcoming historical drama, Padmavati, in which he will be seen essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji.
