New Delhi, June 28: Social networking website Facebook has achieved yet another milestone. Facebook now has over 2 billion registered users (more than a quarter of world’s population) that connect with their friends. Also, 800 million of the users engage on the social networking platform everyday.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in a Facebook post this morning, wrote, “As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people! We’re making progress connecting the world, and now let’s bring the world closer together. It’s an honor to be on this journey with you.”

In a blogpost, Facebook said that on an average, over 800 million people ‘like’ something on Facebook, while more than 175 million people share a ‘love’ reaction. Over one billion people use Groups every month.

India is the largest market for Facebook outside of the United States of America with over 180 million users.

Meanwhile, Facebook has made personalised videos for its users on getting 2 billion users. The video summarises a user’s journey on Facebook so far through pictures and number of loves.

Meanwhile, Facebook has said that it has partnered Election Commission of India. As part of the partnership, a voter registration reminder will be sent between July 1-4 to people on Facebook in India who are eligible to vote.

The reminder will be in 13 Indian languages — English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, Assamese, Marathi and Oriya.

“The Election Commission of India is going to launch a special drive to enrol left out electors, with a particular focus on first-time electors,” Nasim Zaidi, Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission of India, said.
