Noida, May 2: A major accident was averted here on Tuesday after a school bus of the Father Agnel School caught fire near the exotica east square. The fire was noticed by a school teacher who promptly informed the students to get down from the bus. The intensity of the fire could be gauged from the fact that several students had to jump out of windows to save their lives. The flames were seen coming out of the bus. Eyewitness suggest around 50-55 students were travelling back to their homes when the incident took place.

The guard of the school informed that the school has taken the services of a private carrier. The incident sent shockwaves the parents of the students. Children were rescued safely. But the fire exposes the non-compliance of safety measures in the school buses. As per the norms, the school buses must fire extinguishers to be used in case of emergency. Similarly, the emergency exit doors must be functional on the buses.
