7th Pay Commission: Minimum HRA from Rs 1,800 to Rs 5,400; All you need to know

Differently-abled employees will get a special allowance of Rs 6,750. Here are the recommendations.

New Delhi, June 29: Central government has given a huge monsoon gift to 50 lakh employees and defense personnel as it has approved the recommendations of the seventh pay commission with 34 changes. One of the main changes is HRA. The new allowances will be applicable from July 1. Last year, decisions on HRA and other allowances couldn’t be arrived at. A committee formed to resolve this issue accepted some recommendations. With this, there would an additional burden of Rs 30,728 crore on the national exchequer.

According to reports, according to the category cities fall in, minimum HRA central government employees will get is Rs 1,800, Rs 3,600, and Rs 5,400. The HRA will be 24%, 16%, and 8%. If the DA is 25%, the HRA will be 27, 18, and 9%. If the DA os 50%, the HRA will be 30, 20, and 10%. Pensioners will get Rs 1,000 fixed medical allowance. Differently-abled employees will get a special allowance of Rs 6,750. Here are the recommendations.

  • Rs 7200 nursing allowance to differently-abled employees.
  • Rs 540 operation theatre allowance.
  • Army jawans posted at Siachen will now get Rs 30,000 additional allowance. Earlier, it was Rs 14,000. Officers will get Rs 42,500 instead of Rs 21,000.
  • Children education allowance increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2250 per month.
  • Children welfare allowance of differently-abled women increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000.
