AAP MLA Naresh Balyan Says Officers Who Stop Common Man’s Work Should be Beaten up, Refuses to Apologise For Remark
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan has stirred another controversy for the party by saying that administrative officials who stop the work of a common man "deserve to be beaten up".
New Delhi, Feb 23: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan has stirred another controversy for the party by saying that administrative officials who stop the work of a common man “deserve to be beaten up”. Even as probe is on into allegations of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash that he was assaulted by AAP MLAs in front of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, this remark, also made in front of Kejriwal has stirred a row. Addressing a rally in Uttam Nagar, Balyan was heard saying, “Jo Chief Secy ke sath hua, jo inhone jhootha aarop lagaya, main to keh raha hu aise adhikariyo ko thokna chahye, jo aam aadmi ke kaam rok ke baithe hain aise adhikariyo ke sath yahi salook hona chahye (What happened with Chief Secy, the false allegations that he has levelled, I will say that such officers should be beaten up, those who have stopped the work of a common man should be treated this way only).” (Also Read: Delhi Chief Secretary Was Assaulted by AAP MLAs in Arvind Kejriwal’s Secret Room, Claims Kapil Mishra)

Speaking to Zee News after the comments surfaced in the media, Balyan refused to apolgise and went on to justify his statements. “What should I apologise for,” he questioned when the anchor asked him if he regrets his statement.
This is not the first time that Balyan has become the centre of a controversy. Balyan was arrested on charges of assault in October, 2016 and was granted bail later.
AAP vs Delhi Chief Secretary
Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash had alleged that he was manhandled by two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs during a late night meeting on Monday (February 19). The assault, Prakash claims, took place in the presence of CM Kejriwal. On Friday, a team of Delhi Police reached Kejriwal’s house on Friday to review CCTV footage in connection with the alleged assault on Chief Secretary.
Reacting to the Delhi Police ‘raid’ at his house, Kejriwal took a dig at the BJP government and asked whether authorities would dare to quiz BJP president Amit Shah in connection with Judge Loya death case. “Police being sent to my house. They are investigating, this is good. But I wonder when Amit Shah will be quizzed in Judge Loya case?” Kejriwal tweeted.
A Delhi court had earlier in the day sent AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with the issue.
