New Delhi, Apr 13: Two Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs were caught eating during a day-long hunger strike against Parliament washout. The BJP MLAs, identified as Sanjay Bhegade and Bhimrao Tapkir, were seen eating during a meeting in Pune on Thursday during the hunger protest against the opposition stalling Parliament, news agency ANI reported. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah were leading the one-day fast and had asked party workers to not eat or click selfies on April 12.

However, hunger didn’t only strike the BJP leaders during a strike. Earlier this week, Congress leaders were also seen feasting on ‘Chhole Bhature’ just before sitting on a day-long fast in protest against atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Watch: BJP MLAs seen eating during day-long fast

The BJP had claimed that Congress leaders were seen eating at a restaurant named ‘Chaina Ram Halwai’ in the national capital before sitting on the protest. Delhi BJP leader Harish Khurana also showed a picture in which senior Congress leaders like Ajay Maken,  Arvinder Singh Lovely were seen eating chole-bhature.

Reacting over the allegations, Congress leader Lovely said,”Photograph is of before 8 AM, this is symbolic fast from 10.30 AM to 4.30 PM. It is not indefinite hunger strike. This is what is wrong with these (BJP) people, instead of properly running the country, they concentrate on what we eat.” The Congress party had said that its leaders were fasting to “promote communal harmony” and protesting against the Central government’s anti-Dalit policy.
