Lucknow, August 5: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced superstar Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Mission in the state. Noteworthy, Akshay’s upcoming movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha focuses on building toilets in villages and ending open defecation in India. During a cleanliness drive programme in Lucknow, Adityanath said, “The message which has been given through the film is an inspiration for all. The film will give a new sensitivity to the society and help remove the ills”.
CM Adityanath also made Akshay Kumar’s film tax-free in Uttar Pradesh. The programme was attended by Akshay and actress Bhumi Pednekar. They picked up the broom while Yogi Adityanath and the cast of the film administered and took an oath of cleanliness to the children and others present at the event. CM Adityanath said, “Everyone needs to do ‘shramdan’ for 100 hours in a year and two hours a week”. He further stated that the dream of a healthy society can be completed only when one adopts cleanliness and keeping the surroundings clean is every individual’s social responsibility and everyone should promote cleanliness.
CM Yogi Adityanath also added, “The state government is working with complete sincerity on the Swachh Bharat Mission and by October 2, 2018, the state will be made open defecation free”. The film is apparently inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and film directed by Shree Narayan Singh. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is slated to release on August 11.
