The intercepts of telephone conversations between terrorists based in India and Pakistan have also revealed that Al-Qaida and ISIS terrorists are planning to target Army and police establishments on August 15. The information have been shared with SPG and other anti-terror units, following which an “unprecedented security arrangement” have been made for Pm Modi.
The use of bulletproof enclosures have became a tradition after Indira Gandhi’s assassination. But since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, he has been ignoring the advisory and doing away with the bulletproof enclosure while giving his speech on Independence Day. In order to tighten PM’ security this year following higher threat perception, SPG commandos will cover the area from where the PM will deliver his Independence Day speech with an overhead bullet-proof canopy.
High-resolution cameras are likely to be installed on Red Fort’s towers to keep an eye on every movement in and around the Red Fort. Commandos and spotters have also been deployed at strategic locations to keep Pm Modi out of the range of most short and long-range weapons.
