New Delhi, December 8: In yet another shocking incident, a class XI student allegedly killed a five-year-old girl, after kidnapping her for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The accused, a 16-year-old boy drowned the victim Vaishnavi Sood in a tub of water and hid her body inside a cooler at his home in Ambala’s Boh village. The police traced the ransom call and arrested the boy last night from the house that was rented to his (accused) brother-in-law by deceased’s father.  (Also Read: Delhi Man Murders Wife, Confesses at Police Station, Kills Self)

During interrogation, the accused told officials that he watched a movie after which he decided to hatch a plan to make easy money. The boy was working on his laptop when the police reached the house.  “He had sought Rs 20 lakh in ransom from the father of the child, Anil Sood, who owns a photo-copy shop in the village,” news agency PTI quoted Superintendent of Police (SP), Ambala, Abhishek Jorwal as saying. Jorwal also said that the girl’s parents were not aware of the boy’s intentions. Talking to Indian Express, the devastated father narrated his ordeal and said,”When our daughter did not return from her uncle’s shop, my wife Minakshi informed all the neighbours. The juvenile joined the search for more than an hour. Subsequently, one of the neighbours, Pawan, received a call. He handed over the phone to one of my relatives. The caller demanded ransom of Rs 20 lakh and said that he would call again on Thursday.”

Meanwhile, the mother of five-year-old deceased urged government and judiciary to award him strict punishment.
