New Delhi, Dec 2: Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal launched a scathing attack against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Sukhbir calls Kejriwal a ‘lost case in Punjab’ and claimed that he fails to understand the complexities of the state. Speaking at the HT Summit in the national capital, Badal indicated that Kejriwal has been able to deceive a section of Punjabi populace. “Punjabis love new things, that’s why they fell for Kejriwal,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Badal further added that the Akali Dal is one such political outfit which understands the ground realities of Punjab. “Akali Dal is people’s party. This is the party of Punjab. This is 95 years old party, only second to Congress,” Badal added.
The second rank Akali leader slammed Congress and AAP for allegedly lacking inner-party democracy. “In Congress, high command approves decision. Their manifesto of Punjab is finalized by the central command in Delhi. Similarly, Mr Kejriwal’s party is being directed from Delhi. Akali Dal is the one party which belongs to Punjab, and takes decision in consultation with locals,” he added.
However, Capt Amarinder Singh who shared the dais with Badal at the Ht Summit, contradicted him, saying, “Akali Dal is not people’s party, but a family party. All decisions are taken inside the family. On the other hand, Congress is a national party. We hold consultations and take decisions in a democratic manner,” Amarinder said.
