Agartala, Feb 12: Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 will be held in single-phase on February 18. The 60-Assembly constituencies in Tripura are all set to go to polls. Voting for Asharambari (ST), Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar, Teliamura, Krishnapur (ST) and Bagma (ST) Assembly seats will be held on February 18 amid tight security to ensure free and fair polls. The results of Asharambari (ST), Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar, Teliamura, Krishnapur (ST) and Bagma (ST) Assembly seats will be announced on March 3. A tough contest is on cards between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress (INC) in Tripura Assembly Elections 2018. The term of current Tripura Assembly ends on March 14.

Asharambari (ST)

Asharambari (ST), constituency number 26, is reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled tribes. In 2013 Tripura Assembly Elections, the seat was won by CPI(M) candidates Aghore Debbarma. He had defeated INPT’s Amiya Kumar Debbarma. The Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 will witness a contest between the BJP, Congress and CPI(M). Aghore Debbarma has been fielded by CPI(M) from the seat for 2018 Assembly elections, whereas the Congress and the Tipraland State Party (TSP) have fielded Surendar Debbarma and Dilip Kumar Munda, respectively. The results of Asharambari (ST) Assembly seat will be announced March 3. It wll go to polls on February 18.

Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar

Kalyanpur-Pramodenagar, constituency number 27, will go to polls on February 18 and the results will be announced on March 3. It is currently held by CPI(M)’s Manindra Chandra Das who had won it against Kajal Chandra Das of the INC in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections. For Tripura Assembly Elections 2018, the Congress has fielded Bikram Kishore Singh whereas, the BJP and CPI(M) have fielded Pinaki Das Chowdhury and Manindra Das. Monornjan Debbarma will fight elections on TSP ticket.

Teliamura

Teliamura, constituency number 28, is currently held by CPI(M)’s Gouri Das. She had defeated INC’s Gourisankar Roy in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections by over 1,000 votes. The seat will go to polls on February 18 and the results for it will be declared on March 3. Gouri Das of CPI(M) will contest Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 against Kalyani Roy, Nitya Gopal Rudra Pal, Chnita Kr. Debbarma of BJP, Congress and TSP, respectively.

Krishnapur (ST)

Krishnapur (ST), constituency number 29, is reserved for scheduled tribes candidates. It is currently held by Khagendra Jamatia of the CPI(M). He had defeated INC’s Sabda Kumar Jamatia in 2013 Tripura Assembly elections. The seat will see contest between Khagendra Jamatia of CPI(M) and Saratal Jamatia of Congress in Tripura Assembly elections 2018. The results will be announced on March 3 and the seat goes to polls on February 18.

Bagma (ST)

Bagma (ST), constituency number 30, is also reserved for the candidates from scheduled tribes. It was won by CPI(M)’s Naresh Chandra Jamatia in 2013 Tripura Assembly Elections against INPT’s Jyotish Jamatia. In Tripura Assembly elections 2018, the seat will see competition between Naresh Jamatia of CPI(M), Ram Pada Jamatia of BJP, Ananta Lala Jamatia of Congress. Bagma (ST) will go to polls on February 18 and the results will be declared on March 3.

The CPI (M) won 49 out of the 60 assembly seats in Tripura Assembly Elections 2013. The CPI won only 1 seat.
