New Delhi, April 9: Union Minister Ashwini Choubey’s son Arijit Shashwat who was arrested in connection with the Bhagalpur violence case has been granted bail on Monday. Shashwat had surrendered on March 31 after a Bhagalpur court rejected the anticipatory bail plea. He was sent to 14-days judicial custody.
Violence had erupted after people belonging to minority community objected to loud music being played during a procession taken out on the occasion of the new year as per the Hindu calendar. The procession was being led by Shashwat.
Arijit’s minister father had however claimed that claimed that false FIR has been registered against his son. He had demanded an impartial investigation by the agencies. Choubey had accused the RJD and Congress of trying to flare up “riots” in Bihar and said the NDA governments at the Centre and in the state would take stern action against such attempts.
“We will defeat the intention of the RJD and Congress to instigate riots. The conspirators wanted to cause riots, but no one dared to do so and we have kept Bihar under control. The Bihar government and the Centre will together defeat the attempts to disturb harmony in the state,” the minister had said.
