Bihar class 10 Results 2016: More than 50 per cent students failed in exams

Patna, May 30: In the recently released Bihar state board Class 10 results, more than half of the students who appeared failed to clear the exams. Out of 15.47 lakh students who appeared for the Class 10 examinations, less than half of the students passed. The figures show a drop by 28 per cent compared to result of 2015.

As per a Times of India Report, students who received first ten ranks in the state were on the merit list were from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya in Bihar’s Jamui district. As per the Bihar School Examination Board, 42 students topped the exams out of which 24 were girls and 18 boys. The school was set up after Bihar’s bifurcation with Jharkhand in 2000. In 2015, photographs of mass cheating during Calss 10 exams in Vaishali had gone viral on social media. Following the embarrassing incident, strict arrangements were followed. CCTV cameras, extra policemen were deployed outside exam centres. Last year, 75.16 per cent students had passed the exam in which only 10.86 per cent students secured first class.

Although the pass percentage is low this year, the marks show the actual merit scores of students. State education minister Ashok Choudhary said that the Board was successful in stopping unfair means and the low pass marks is a result of it. Babita Kumari and Trisha Tanvi topped in the state with 96.6 per cent marks. Komal Kumari, Abhinav Sharma and Madhukar Kumari got 96.4 per cent marks, while Divya Jyoti and Priyanka Kumari secure third position with 96.2 per cent marks.
