The cash being seized from the ex-BJP leader would provide fresh ammunition to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to lash out at the Narendra Modi government over demonetisation. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been leading the anti-demonetisation charge.

Interestingly, Arun had extensively praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook after the decision to demonetize the currency was taken on November 8.

Social media went abuzz on Tuesday evening with the breaking news of BJP member Manish Sharma’s arrest in West Bengal.
