New Delhi, March 24: Rebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha on Saturday visited Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in Ranchi. Sinha was accompanied by former Samajwadi Party MP Kiranmoy Nanda and Former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay. The meeting comes a few hours after the RJD supremo was sentenced to seven years in jail,  in Dumka Treasury Case, one of the four cases in the Fodder Scam.

Speaking to reporters after the high-profile meet, Sinha said that the meeting was not political. “We are like a family, came here just to ask about his well-being,” stated the BJP leader.  (Also Read: Key Facts And Timeline of Bihar Fodder Scam: Here’s all You Need to Know)

Earlier in the day,  a special CBI court awarded seven years imprisonment to Lalu Prasad and fined him Rs 30 lakh in Dumka Treasury Case. CBI judge Shivpal Singh pronounced the sentence.  On March 19, the court had convicted Lalu Prasad in the fourth fodder scam case but acquitted another former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra.

“Lalu Prasad has been awarded seven years imprisonment and slapped Rs 30 lakhs fine under the Indian Penal Code and another seven years under the Prevention of Corruption Act and a fine of Rs 30 lakhs (each),” the former Bihar Chief Minister’s lawyer Prabhat Kumar told reporters.
