New Delhi, Nov 28: The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a cab driver, who allegedly attempted to abduct a woman judge while driving her to Karkardooma court. The driver, identified as Rajeev, is a resident of Shahdara in northeast Delhi. He will be produced before court today.
As per a report in Times of India, the incident took place on Monday, when the woman judge booked a cab and was travelling from central Delhi to Karkardooma court. Suddenly, the judge noticed she was being taken somewhere else after which she called up the police immediately. The police then started tracking the movement of the cab through the judge’s mobile phone.
They rescued the woman judge safely and intercepted the cab near Ghazipur toll plaza, says the TOI report. The woman had also lodged an FIR at Ghazipur police station, alleging the driver diverted the route towards Hapur in Uttar Pradesh instead of going to the Karkardooma court in east Delhi.
“At around 10am, the vehicle crossed Yamuna and the driver went straight instead of taking a turn towards Mayur Vihar. Following the diversion, the woman shouted at the driver but he was allegedly unfazed. However, after driving for a few kilometres, the cabbie began driving towards Delhi,” the woman alleged in her complaint.
However this is not the first time a woman judge has been misbehaved by a cab driver. Earlier in June, the Delhi Police had arrested a 40-year-old Ola cabbie on charges of misbehaving with an additional sessions judge and making obscene gestures in front of her.
