Mumbai, Jan 24: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday produced 9 people in front of special CBI court, arrested in the loan default case of Vijay Mallya. The investigative agency filed a charge sheet against liquor baron Vijay Mallya and his defunct Kingfisher airlines in the loan default case. Besides Mallya, CBI also filed a charge sheet against 11 others in the special court of CBI, in the financial capital of India. Mallya has been accused of conspiracy and cheating. Mr. Mallya, who is currently in London, has also been named as an absconder in the filed charge sheet.

Also, all 9 arrested accused were sent to Judicial custody till  February 7 by the special CBI court. The court will hear the bail application of 9 accused on January 30.

On Monday, CBI  had arrested former chairman and three executives of IDBI bank in connection with Vijay Mallya’s loan default case. Also, four Kingfisher Airlines executives were also taken under the CBI custody. Terming the Rs 950 crore loan to the defunct Kingfisher Airlines as unsecured, the arrests were made by CBI.

Yesterday, a 12 member team of CBI also made searches in offices of Vijay Mallya-owned United Breweries group in Bengaluru.

Mallya was given loan by the IDBI bank in 2009-10 and more than Rs 250 crore was sanctioned to Mallya’s airlines to purchase parts of aircraft, but on the contrary, the money was diverted out of the nation.
