Hyderabad, Nov 14: A three-year-old boy accidentally fell into the water sump at his school at Malkajgiri in Medchal district of Telangana on Tuesday, November 14 as the celebrations of Children’s Day was underway. Reports say that the boy did not notice that the cover of the sump was removed while walking towards the class room and slipped into it.
The incident was reported at Bachpan School, one of the most popular in Hyderabad. The child, identified as Siva Rachit, had gone to the school for the celebration of Children’s Day. Reports say that the children were running around, having a good time, when Rachit suddenly slipped into the water sump. Notably, the cover of the sump was removed as Tuesdays are the drinking water supply day in the area.
The school management came to know about the mishap when the boy and his school bag were seen floating in the sump. The child was pulled out and rushed to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Meanwhile, the police have been informed about the incident. A probe into the matter has been launched.
Malkajgiri SHO Janaki Reddy, speaking to news agency ANI, said that a case has been registered into the matter. “We have registered a case and visited the spot. It clearly looks like this incident happened due to school management’s negligence. We have started the investigation,” he said.
