New Delhi, March 24: Congress MLA YN Rudresh Gowda died  of multiple organ failure at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Saturday. The mortal remains of the Congress MLA have been kept at Hassan DCC office for public viewing.

Gowda was on his way to Bengaluru on Friday to cast his vote in Rajya Sabha polls when he suffered a massive heart attack.

He is survived by wife MN Keerthana and a daughter.

Gowda’s political career 

In 1985, Rudresh Gowda entered politics through the Janata Party. He was a member of Hassan Zilla Panchayat between 1985 and 1996. He became president of ZP for a year, before getting elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996 on the Janata Party ticket.

Later he switched to the Congress party and got elected to the State Assembly in 2008 and 2013.
