Lucknow, April 16: Congress president Rahul Gandhi would be on a three-day trip of Amethi and Rae Bareli beginning today, Monday. He is reported to spend the first two days in his own parliamentary constituency of Amethi while the last one in Rae Bareli, the constituency of his mother. According to news agency ANI, Rahul would inaugurate a Passport Seva Kendra, a road project and a private school. He is also to inaugurate some development projects during his stay.
Gandhi would be holding a kisaan chaupal (meeting with farmers) in Jainabganj Mandi of Shukl Bazaar today. He would also be inaugurating the Thauri-Kotava road that has been built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
The Congress President had visited Amethi in January; that was his maiden trip after his elevation as party chief. However, that trip was marred by protests and “Rahul Gandhi go back” placards. Alleging that placards looked similar in every protest, Congress leaders had held the BJP responsible. There were also reports of Congress workers beating up protesters in parts of Amethi.
Only last month, Gandhi was in Bengaluru where he was campaigning for the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly elections. There, he visited a temple, a dargah and a church. Karnataka goes to polls on May 12.
