Dalit woman allegedly stripped in Madhya Pradesh, forced to consumed urine

Chhatarpur (MP):A 45-year-old Dalit woman from Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh was allegedly stripped by a couple from an upper caste community. Reportedly, she was also forced to drink urine.

The victim later lodged a complaint with Neeraj Pandey, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Chhatarpur. She me the ASP along with a group of people as the local police station did not take action against against the accused. The Nowgong police have now registered a complaint under  Section 394, 323, 506 and 34 of IPC and sections of Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe (SC/ST) Act against the alleged couple Vijay Yadav and his wife Vimla Yadav.

The couple tortured her as government gave her a piece of land which was earlier in Vijay Yadav’s possession. This angered the Yadavs and they damaged her crops by sending cattle into the fields. When she went to the couple house, they lodged beat her. They also threatened her if she complained against them. (READ: Congress launches Bhim Jyoti Yatra to woo Dalit support)

Lalit Shakyawar, Superintendent of police (SP), Chhatarpur said that although she registered a complaint, she did not inform police about the incident. According to a Hindustan Times Reports Shakyawar said, “I have instructed the sub-divisional officer of police to conduct a probe and take action against accused couple.”
