Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: Dana Majhi, the tribal from Odisha who hit the headlines for carrying the dead body of his wife for 10 km on his shoulders, now owns lakhs. His life took a turn after he received a slew of aides from many donors including the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Majhi reportedly received a sum of Rs 9 lakh from Bahrain PM. Majhi had told reporters that he would deposit the money in the bank for his three daughters for their future use. He was also allotted a house under Pradhan Mantri Grameen Awas Yojana. Majhi was recently spotted riding a brand new bike on the same road on which he carried his wife’s dead body after being denied an ambulance in August 2015.
Majhi has been getting help from many quarters ever since the chilling incident. He had said that Bahrain prince donated the money after learning about his tragedy He had earlier received an assistance of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10,000 every month for education of his daughters from Sulabh International.
The Sulabh International had deposited fixed deposits in Majhi’s bank account which will mature in 2021. Dana Majhi will get a sum of Rs 7,33,921 after five years at the interest rate of 7.5 per cent.
