Dangal girl Zaira Wasim Khan threatened for meeting Mehbooba Mufti, apologises on Twitter
Zaira Wasim Khan apologised to all those who have been offended by the meeting on Twitter saying that she is terrified by all the threats she has been receiving since she met Mehbooba Mufti.
Jammu and Kashmir, Jan 16: Zaira Wasim Khan, 16, who played the role of wrestler Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan’s Dangal movie has come out with an elaborate apology after she was trolled and threatened on Twitter. She was apparently threatened by the separatists who have been offended by her meeting with the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. She has been targeted for being the youth icon for Kashmiri youth. Zaira Wasim Khan apologised to all those who have been offended by the meeting on Twitter saying that she is terrified by all the threats she has been receiving since she met Mehbooba Mufti.

The young actor wrote, “I am not proud of what I am doing and I want everyone, especially the Youth to know that there are real role models out there whether they be in this time or in our history. To even consider me as a role model would be disgracing them.”
On the apology, wrestler Geeta Phogat said, “She must be under terrible pressure considering the developments in Jammu and Kashmir. She has done an amazing job in the movie and there is no need to apologise for what she has done.” She added, “It is very unfortunate that Zaira has received death threats. She doesn’t need to fear anyone and we are with her. We need to assure her that we are with her.”
Apologizing for the meeting, Zaira Khan wrote on Twitter that there are other better role models to follow and she doesn’t consider herself a role model for the Kashmiri Youth and hence, doesn’t want anybody to follow her steps.

Khan who has been in the limelight for playing the role of Geeta Phogat said that she is not a role model to follow and doesn’t want youngsters to follow in her footsteps. “I am being projected as a role model of the Kashmiri Youth. I want to make it very clear that I do not want anyone to follow in my footsteps or even consider me as a role model,” she wrote on twitter.
Zaira Wasim Khan had met the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on January 15. In the meeting, Mufti had apparently talked to Zaira Khan about her education and her interest in creative fields such as acting. The young actor had briefed the chief minister about the Aamir Khan starrer film Dangal. She had also talked about the tight schedule she had to follow while she was performing the role of wrestler Geeta Phogat.
Zaira Wasim Khan played the role of young Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan starrer movie Dangal which in the first week of its release crossed Rs 300 crore mark.
