Kolkata, Oct 13: Clashes have erupted between police and supporters of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in Darjeeling’s Takvar. At least two people were killed in clashes between cops and GJM supporters. A cop is among two dead. Clashes broke out after West Bengal police raided GJM’s den stock house in Darjeeling.

A GJM supporter and a sub-inspector were reportedly killed in clashes in Darjeeling. The GJM supporters reportedly opened fire on cops after the police raided a hideout at a Lepcha Basti near Takvar. West Bengal’s picturesque hill station of Darjeeling recently bounced back to life following the withdrawal of the over three-month-long protest by the GJM.

The GJM had on September 26 announced the withdrawal of its indefinite shutdown in the northern West Bengal hills. The GJM had called the shutdown, which was lasted for over 100 days, demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland.
