New Delhi, April 12: Delhi Commission for Woman (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal is going to start an indefinite hunger strike from tomorrow, Friday, at Rajghat against Unnao and Kathua rape incidents. She has also appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pass a law for a death penalty for rape convicts of minor. The hunger strike will start tomorrow in Rajghat at 12.30 pm.

Raising the recent incident of rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua, Maliwal has written a letter to the PM Modi on Thursday.  In the letter, she raised the rape case of an 8-month-old baby in Delhi, recent incidents of rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua and Unnao rape case as well. She demanded Justice for the victims and an immediate death penalty to rapists.

“The number of rape incidents with minor and woman has increased across the nation. We request you to create a strict law system under which the rapists of minor should get the strict punishment of immediate death penalty within 6 months and cases of sexual assault of women and girls should solve within 6 months”.

Last month, Maliwal along with hundreds of students from Delhi University,  Jamia, Ambedkar and others led a campaign ‘Rape Roko’ and launched a website raperoko.org where lakhs of common people signed the online signature petition demanding strict action against the rapists. The DCW chief also demanded immediate action against the alleged accused MLA, Bar Association in Kathua for supporting rape accused.

An eight-year-old girl’s body was recovered from Rassana forest in Kathua district of Jammu on January 17, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area. She was held captive inside a temple, and was sedated before being raped and murdered.
