Delhi: 1 dead, several feared trapped after massive fire breaks out in Narela Industrial Area

The incident took place in a plastic factory located in the area. At least two people have been rescued as fire is under control now.

New Delhi, March 25: At least one person has been killed and one person has been critically injured after a massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area on Saturday morning. The incident took place in a plastic factory located in the area. At least two people have been rescued from the spot whereas the fire is under control now. Out of the two, one is seriously injured while the other is safe. However, many people are still trapped inside the plastic factory. As many as 30 fire tenders along with disaster management team are working on the spot.

On Thursday, two toddlers aged two and three, sustained severe burn injuries after the car they were playing in suddenly caught fire in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area. The incident happened when their grandmother was inside the house while their parents were away, said a senior police officer. Doctors at Safdarjung hospital, where the sisters are being treated, said they are stable but not out of danger.

On Friday, a fire incident was reported in a Delhi hotel where the Jharkhand cricket team and former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni were staying. The incident took place just before the Jharkhand cricket team was set to leave for net practice. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (SouthWest) Surendra Kumar, all players including Dhoni, who is leading the team, were safely evacuated.

In the last month, fire broke out at the Times of India building on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in central Delhi’s ITO area where 31 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze. The occupants were safely evacuated and no casualties were reported in the incident.  As per reports, the fire broke out in the server room on the first floor of the building at 4.30 PM. Earlier in February, two firemen from Delhi Fire Services (DFS) were killed after fire broke out due to the blast and other firemen took around an hour to douse the flames. Two firemen were critically injured in the cylinder blast.
