New Delhi, Apr 17: The Delhi Police on Monday arrested a 19-year-old man for posing as a doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for five months. The man, identified as Adnan Khurram, was reportedly posing as a doctor to facilitate the treatment of his relatives at the hospital. However, the police have also said that his motive was not clear as he has given several reasons for impersonating a doctor at AIIMS.

The police said that he posed as a doctor at AIIMS also because he said that he liked to spend time with doctors and even wanted to be a doctor himself some day. They said that Khurram even participated in events at AIIMS like strikes and marathons. He was caught during a marathon when some doctors became suspicious and questioned him. He could not answer their queries.

The police said that the accused is originally a resident of Village Baradi Baireya, East Champaran, Bihar, and was presently residing at Batla House, Jamia Nagar.

A case under section 419 (impersonation) and section 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Khurram.
