Delhi Police creates history: Enters Limca Book of records for recovering Rs 22.49 crores of stolen money in 48 hours

New Delhi, January 2: Delhi Police officials has set a new record of recovering a stolen money of Rs 22.49 crores and enters Limca Book of Records with the fastest recovery done in less than 48 hours.

In November last year a driver of a cash van absconded with Rs 22.49 crore of cash, which was inside the cash box that thieves have stolen.

Delhi Police Commissioner, BS Bassi gave credit to his officers and said, “Delhi Police enters Limca Book of Records for India’s recovering 22.49 Crores of stoles money”.

The heist of Rs 22.49 crore which was a record in itself took place within few minutes when an armed man accompanying the van asked the driver to stop the vehicle near Govindpuri Metro station so that they could relive himself by the roadside. Read Also: (Biggest heist in Delhi: Cash van driver makes off with Rs 22.5 crore)

The driver, Pradeep Shukla told the guard that he would wait for him in a lane and fled from the spot with metal boxes full of cash. When the guard returned he saw no one near the lane. The guard and the driver were carrying cash of banks who immediately called police.

This on was the biggest cash heist in the history of Delhi.

In less than 48 hours Shukla was caught from a warehouse in Okhla Phase-III in Delhi. The cops recovered all the nine boxes were also in the same room, where he was consuming liquor. Two of the boxes were broken. During questioning, it emerged that Shukla was planning to leave the city with the stolen booty.

Eariler in January 2014, a businessman was robbed of Rs 7.69 crore at gunpoint in New Delhi.
