New Delhi, Oct 12: Delhi Police have warned firecracker vendors against selling crackers online after reports on websites selling them surfaced. On Thursday, Delhi Police PRO said that action will be taken against those who try to sell or purchase firecrackers online.
This came after reports that online sale of firecrackers in Delhi NCR continues despite the Supreme Court ordering a complete ban on the sale of firecrackers in Delhi NCR till October 31.
Websites like buyonlinecrackers.in, crackersindia.com offer home delivery of crackers in Delhi-NCR. Reputed online shopping portal like e-bay is also selling crackers. Buyonlinecrackers.in is even offering attractive deals to buyers. Delivery of order of over Rs 10,000 is free, the website advertises. Cock brand, which is considered to be one of the best firecracker-producing companies in the country, has its own website which sells crackers.
There is also no clarity as to what happens with those who are buying firecrackers from neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as there is no ban on bursting firecrackers.
Traders move SC for modification of ban order
A group of traders have moved the Supreme Court seeking modification of the October 9 order by which the sale of firecrackers was banned in Delhi-NCR region till November 1. They have sought permission to sell off their existing stock of firecrackers.
The traders told apex court that their licences were revived in pursuance of the apex court’s order passed in September 12 and they procured firecrackers for sale during Diwali. The court is expected to take up the plea shortly.
