Sirsa, Sept 9: The search operation at the Dera Sacha Headquarters in Sirsa continued on Day 2 on Saturday. The police, during the operation, sealed an illegal explosives factory inside the Dera premises. The search team also found a window-like path leading from Dera Awas to Sadhvi Niwas. Besides that minor children – one belonging to Uttar Pradesh and the other to Kaithal – have also been rescued. “They have been handed over to the district child protection officer,” Mehra said while informing that a set of walkie-talkies has also been found inside the room of convicted Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. While confirming that the search operation is expected to continue till Saturday evening, Mehra also said that unlabelled medicines have been found on the premises and handed over to the district administration.
Notably, heavy security has been deployed in Sirsa and surrounding areas in the wake of the search operations at the Dera headquarters. Forty one companies of paramilitary forces, four Indian Army columns and Haryana Police contingents from four to five districts are manning 16 checkpoints. Besides this, a SWAT team and one dog squad has also been deployed in the district. Ten companies of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), along with the Haryana Police, have been deployed at the Shah Satnam Chowk.
Meanwhile, a curfew has also been imposed in areas surrounding the Dera and there will be no relaxation given in these areas till the search operation continues.
On Friday, a computer, hard disks, an unregistered luxury SUV, over 1500 pair of luxury shoes and pile of designer clothes and cash were recovered and are being examined by a forensics team called in from Roorkee, an ANI report claimed.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court, earlier on September 5, gave orders to conduct a search operation of Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters under the supervision of a judicial officer. This order came after the Haryana Police seized 33 licensed weapons of the Dera Sacha Sauda.
