Port Blair, September 16: An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale today hit the islands of Andaman and Nicobar. The earthquake was reported this morning at around 4:08 AM by the National Center for Seismology. No immediate loss of life or property has been reported.

5.4 magnitude moderate earthquake was reported last week on September 6 in the Andaman Sea, according to United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake hit 162 kilometres south-west of Port Blair at around 6:39 AM, the reports said.

On September 7, earthquake of magnitude 4.4 hit the India-Bangladesh Border at around 8 in the morning. As per the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred with a slight intensity of 10 kilometres in-depth.
