New Delhi, April 17: An FIR has been registered against Congress’ Karnataka Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao for making derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Dinesh Gundu Rao had on Saturday said that Yogi Adityanath is a ‘disgrace’ to Indian politics and ‘unfit’ to be the CM of Uttar Pradesh.
He made these comments while participating in a candlelight march organized by the Karnataka unit of the Congress party against the twin rape incidents of Unnao and Kathua. He has also said that PM Modi should sack Yogi Adityanath as he is not a Yogi but a ‘dhongi’ (fake). “If he comes next time to Karnataka, he should be beaten with your sandals,” Rao said.
He had further added that the UP CM “has totally failed his people. A victim of rape found no justice, she lost her father due to inhuman treatment by UP Govt & the CM who calls himself Yogi was trying to protect the accused BJP MLA. It’s not
#RamRajya but #RavanRajya under #BhogiAdityanath.”
Angry over these remarks, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, April 15, lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI). The members of BJP also staged a protest against Gundu Rao and demanded an apology from him.
However, he later apologized saying that his reaction to the Adityanath controversy was an emotional outburst in a speech on the plight of the raped victims and the complete apathy by Adityanath government. “I regret if it’s offensive but the abuse of law in UP is a serious issue,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP on Monday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018. The BJP has named 82 candidates in its second list for the forthcoming Karnataka polls. In its first list, the party had announced 72 candidates. So far the BJP has announced 154 candidates for the Karnataka polls.
Karnataka is all set to go for polls on May 12 and the results will be out on May 15.
