New Delhi, Mar 20: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has been struggling to revive the Congress’ fortunes since the debacle of 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Recently, the Congress faced humiliating defeats in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and lost chance of ruling Goa and Manipur because of mismanagement. Rubbing salts into wounds, an engineering student from Madhya Pradesh proposed the name of Rahul Gandhi in Guinness Book of World Records for losing 27 elections in the country.

Vishal Diwan, who is an engineering student from Hoshangabad, has requested the administration of Guinness Books of World Records to enlist the name of Rahul Gandhi for losing as many as 27 elections in the country, reported the Financial Express. According to Diwan, the Congress suffered back-to-back defeats because of the active participation of Rahul Gandhi in election campaigning and media interactions.

In his letter to the administration of Guinness Books, Vishal Diwan argued that Rahul Gandhi’s name should be listed in the book of records for losing 27 elections. Diwan has also paid the enrollment fees for the same. The Madhya Pradesh students has received the confirmation of acceptance of his application, however the US-based record book have not confirmed whether it will consider or approve his request.

Rahul Gandhi often becomes the butt of jokes on social media for his statement and political knowledge. The Congress vice president was massively trolled on social media when he forgot the total number of seats in Uttar Pradesh Assembly at a joint press conference with Akhilesh Yadav.

While it is a rumour that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been declared as the best PM in the world by the UNESCO, you never know Rahul Gandhi may actually find place in the Guinness Book of World Records for losing maximum number of elections.
