Ahmedabad, Apr 13: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and repeatedly raped by a married man for over two weeks in Gujarat. The tribal girl was abducted when she was returning home from a neighbouring village in Uchhal taluka of Tapi district. (ALSO READ – Unnao Rape Case: CBI Detains BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar)

According to the complaint filed with the police by the parents of the victim, 29-year-old Manish Vasava, a resident of the same village to which he girl belongs to, forced her into an auto-rickshaw and brought her to Surat. There he kept her locked inside a room and repeatedly raped her for over two weeks.

On Wednesday, Vasava dropped the girl back to her village and threatened her against reporting the matter to anyone.

Sub-inspector NV Tadvi has been quoted as saying that the investigation in the case is underway. He also informed that the accused is a father of three children.

The news comes at a time when the country is brimming with angst over the alleged rape and brutal murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua of Jammu and Kashmir. The minor from the Bakarwal community was kidnapped on January 10, drugged and kept in the temple managed by one Sanji Ram. She was repeatedly drugged and gangraped. On January 14, she was strangulated and also bludgeoned to death.

In another incident, two 19-year- olds and one juvenile were arrested for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting two teenage girls in Olpad taluka of Surat. The boys waylaid and dragged the girls into sugarcane fields while they were returning home from sewing class at Khalipur village. The accused even took away the mobile phones of the girls and threatened them of dire consequences if they told about the incident to anyone.

Meanwhile, a complaint was lodged with the police by the parents of the girls, on the basis of which the accused have been arrested.
