New Delhi, November 15: With less than a month left for Gujarat Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central Election Committee will finalise the first list of candidates on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah will attend the meeting in which more than 100 candidates will be announced.

The two-phased Gujarat polls for 182-member Assembly will take place on December 9 and 14. The counting of votes will take place on 18.

On Tueday, Shah claimed that the BJP will form the government in Gujarat by winning over 150 seats in the state polls. Gujarat is witnessing a direct contest between Congress and the BJP with senior leaders of both the parties campaigning in the state.

Hitting out at the Congress, Shah said the party has outsourced the campaign and it has neither a leader nor vision. “The Congress should make it clear under whose leadership it is fighting polls. The BJP is fighting the election under Vijay Rupani and Nitin Patel,” Shah said on Network18’s Agenda Gujarat program.

He then challenged the Congress to name its chief ministerial candidate in Gujarat. “The Congress is trying to divide the people of Gujarat on the basis caste but it won’t be successful in its plan,” Shah said.

The Congress, on other hand, will release its first list of candidates for 70 seats on November 16.
