New Delhi, Dec 6: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to retain Gujarat in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, scheduled for December 9 and 14. According to the India TV-VMR opinion poll the BJP is expected to win 106-116 seats in the 182-member Assembly whereas the Congress is likely to bag 63-73 seats and other parties 2-4 seats.

Th opinion poll suggested that in North Gujarat, which consists of seven districts and 53 seats, the Narendra Modi-led BJP will win 30-34 seats (45% vote share) whereas, the Congress will bag 18-22 seats (42% vote share). The poll has predicted 0-2 seats (13% vote share) for others. In 2012, the BJP had won 32 seats (50% vote share) whereas, the Congress had won 21 seats (40% vote share). Others had won 0 seats (10% vote share) in 2012.

In South Gujarat, which consists of seven districts and 35 seats, BJP is said to gain the lead, as per the India TV-VMR opinion poll. The opinion poll predicts 23-27 seats (46% vote share) for the BJP whereas, 6-10 seats (39% vote share) for the Congress. Both the parties had gained 28 seats (52% vote share) and 6 seats (37% vote share) in 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections.

In Saurashtra-Kutch, which consists of 12 districts and 54 seats, the BJP is predicted to get 27-31 seats (44% vote share) whereas, the Congress is likely to gain 23-27 seats (41% vote share). Others may get up to 0 seats (15% vote share). In 2012, the BJP and the Congress had gained 45% and 37% vote share.

In Central Gujarat, which consists of 7 districts and 40 seats, the BJP is expected to get 23-27 seats (46% vote share) whereas, the Congress is likely to gain 13-17 seats (40% vote share). The poll says that the other parties will gain 14% vote share. In 2012, the BJP gained 20 seats (46% vote share), the Congress bagged 18 seats (39% vote share).

A few days ago, the opinion poll survey conducted by ABP News and CSDS predicted win for the BJP however, it will face tough contest from the Congress. According to the survey, the voters in the north and the south Gujarat are favouring the grand old party whereas, the BJP is leading in Central Gujarat and Saurashtra. According to the survey, the BJP is likely to get 91-99 seats while the Congress may clinch 78-86 seats.

In 2012 assembly polls, BJP had won 115 seats in the 182-member House, while Congress had won 61 seats.
