Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 Phase II Voting: Hardik Patel Casts Vote in Viramgam, Says BJP Will Lose, Congress May Win

Ahmedabad, Dec 14: Patidar leader Hardik Patel cast his vote during the second phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 today. Patel cast his vote in his home town in Viramgam. After casting his vote on Thursday, Patel said, “I have cast my vote, whatever happens will be good.” When asked about his father saying he was not supporting Congress, Patel said, “When we are fighting against the BJP, it is obvious that we are supporting Congress.” (Get Live updates on Gujarat Phase 2 voting here)

Speaking to Zee News after voting, Hardik Patel said that the BJP will lose these elections and that the Congress is likely to emerge winner. In fact, in an interview with TV channel India TV after casting his vote, Patel even said that the Congress will get about 100 seats in Gujarat.

Patel’s parents Bharat and Usha Patel also cast their vote early in the morning today. They were seen visiting  a temple before heading to the polling booth to cast their vote in Viramgam.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also cast his vote in Ahmedabad’s Vejalpur. “I appeal to the people of Gujarat to carry the vikas agenda forward and come to vote in large numbers,” Jaitley said after casting his vote.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel also cast his vote in Mehsana’s Kadi. He is contesting against Congress’s Jivabhai Patel here. Earlier during the day, BJP chief Amit Shah also cast his vote in Naranpura. 

Among the voters was also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben who cast her vote in Gandhinagar. Former Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel cast her vote in Ahmedabad’s Ghatlodia, where BJP’s Bhupendra Patel is up against Congress’s Shashikant Patel.
