Gurgaon school principal arrested for raping 8-year-old student

New Delhi, Feb 7: Principal of a private school in Gurgaon, Ram Gopal, was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly raping an 8-year-old student inside his cabin. The accused, 72-year-old, is the principal and founding director of Aarsha International School, located in Ashok Vihar region of Gurgaon. The complaint was made by the victim’s parents on Saturday evening in Gurgaon Sector 5 police station.

According to the complaint filed against the principal, the 8-year-old girl was called by the principal in the cabin on Friday, in the post-lunch session. After raping her, the principal locked her inside the cabin to prevent others from noticing her condition. The terrified girl was warned by the principal to keep quiet and not reveal anything what happened between them.

On Saturday, the victim refused to go to school. On being further asked by her parents to reveal what had happened with her, the girl broke down and revealed the entire incident to her mother. Subsequently, they approached the police who had filed a case under Prevention of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused is not only the principal of the school, but has also served in the defence forces. He had been a member of Indian Air Force till his retirement.

The arrest comes in the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the tragic death of 6-year-old Divyansh in Ryan International School in Delhi. According to the parents of the deceased child, his death was not an accident but a well-organized incident of crime. The corpse of the child had red marks all over the body and cotton buds were fixed on his anal points.
