Panchkula, Sep 16: Ram Rahim’s former driver Khatta Singh moved an application in the CBI special court, urging the court to let him re-record his statements. Khatta Singh’s lawyer said that he had changed his 2007 statement in out of Ram Rahim‘s fear. “Now he (Khatta Singh) agreed to appear before the court. He has filed an application. The CBI court will decide on Sept 22 if his statement will be taken,” his lawyer told ANI.

Khatta Singh was a witness in the two separate murder cases against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. He had recorded his statements in 2007 but changed them in 2012. According to the reports, Singh says that he turned hostile as he was under pressure from Ram Rahim and some of his followers.

A special CBI court today heard arguments in two murder cases against the 50-year-old self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. For law and order concerns, Ram Rahim was made to appear before the judges through video conferencing. He is currently lodged in Rohtak’s Sonaria jail where he is serving 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.

Ahead of the hearing of the two murder cases – journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh – by some followers of the sect at the behest of Ram Rahim, security was tightened in Panchkula. Paramilitary forces and Haryana police were deployed around the court complex and other areas in Panchkula town to maintain law and order.
