In late August, the Delhi Police raided a casino in a flat at Pamposh Enclave in Greater Kailash-1 and arrested a former 50-year-old woman who ran it. She later revealed that the casino had been operating for last 10-15 days only. The casino was busted in the second attempt. The first plan was cancelled at the last minute when the flat was found to be locked.

At least 14 businessmen, mostly from Pitampura, Noida, and Gurugram, were nabbed from the facility. The police team seized around Rs 8.5 lakh in cash and chips. The workers of the casino were also arrested.

In another case, which came within a week, Delhi Police busted a casino and arrested 30 people in a raid at a farmhouse in south Delhi. The casino was being run by a man named Radhe Shyam. The farmhouse at a South Delhi farmhouse was owned by Major Suresh Yadav (retd) on Dera Mandi Road in Fatehpur Beri.

“It is a sprawling 13 acre farmhouse and was used for shooting of television serials and films,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh told IANS.

He added that the 30 persons who have been arrested include 14 players and five female casino attendants. “The rest were bar attendants. Among the players, few were businessmen and property dealers. They all are the residents of Gurugram, Faridabad, and Delhi,” he said.

In the raid, 13 luxury vehicles, 42 liquor bottles, were also seized. The police said that Singh said plastic coins that were being used as tokens in the casino were worth over Rs 3 crore.
