New Delhi, Nov 13: The pre-poll politics in Gujarat is heating up by the day. Hardik Patel, the Patidar leader who has vowed to not allow the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to return for yet another term, on Monday said the ruling party was out defame him. Hardik was responding to queries of reporters in Ahmedabad over a sex CD which allegedly shows him with a woman.

“The person in the video is not me. Dirty politics is being played now,” Hardik Patel said. “The CD is morphed, I will consult my lawyers and will take appropriate action,” he added.

Gujarati channels have been airing a four-minute clip which shows a man resembling Hardik Patel with an unidentified woman. The video, which appears to be shot in a hotel room, has a timestamp of May 16, 2017.

Patel, who spearheaded the Patidar quota agitation in 2015, had earlier said that the BJP may try to defame him using a sex CD.  (Also Read: Can Support ‘Chor’ Congress to Defeat ‘Mahachor’ BJP in Gujarat, Says Hardik Patel)

Hardik Patel has maintained that if the Congress clarifies its stand on quotas for the Patels, he will not have issues in supporting the Congress in the Gujarat Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in two phases in December.

On the other hand, the Congress is yet to commit anything to Hardik Patel.  Talks of meeting between Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Hardik Patel to finalise the deal has been doing the rounds for long.  However, the two leaders are yet to meet. Last month, CCTV footage of Hardik Patel sneaking into a five-star hotel in Ahmedabad where Rahul Gandhi was staying during his visit to Gujarat was shown on various television channels. Both Congress and  Patel had then rubbished the reports.  (Also Read: Rahul, Hardik Hold ‘Secret Meeting’. Is Patidar Leader Joining Congress?)

The BJP has been alleging for long that the Patidar quota stir was supported by Congress from behind the scenes. The sex tape has now given the BJP more fodder to attack Hardik Patel.
